Mother’s Day For the Birds

You might think by my title that perhaps I had a horrible Mother’s Day yesterday. I had a pretty good day, actually. We left church a bit early and had a delicious lunch at Jose Pepper’s around 11:30 – before the crowds started coming at noon. My allergies have been kicking in though, and by 7:00, I was feeling worn out and just bleh. I was officially in bed around 8:30, and slept ALL night. So, you see, I had a pretty good day! And so did our robin.

See before we left for Florida, some robins built their nest in our weeping mulberry tree, about four feet off the ground. And when we got back from Florida, there were these four, beautiful blue eggs in the nest:

This is the view of the nest from the window in our stairwell. Just right for bird watching!

Yesterday – on Mother’s Day – the eggs started hatching, and “Robin” officially became “Mama Robin”. So far, we have two baby robins:

Hopefully, we’ll have two more very soon!
