On the Curing Rack: Cherries & Chestnuts
I was very excited to try a new fragrance and technique this week. Cherries & Chestnuts was a challenge since the fragrance will turn the soap a dark brown. For the first layer, I wanted some dark cherry red color, so I had to pull out some of the soap and colored it before I added fragrance to the rest. I added just a bit of titanium dioxide to the other half (with the fragrance) to lighten the color and swirled them together in the mold.
The second layer is just the regular soap scented with Cherries & Chestnuts. I really like this scent! It’s subtly sweet and just plain yummy. The soap will continue to darken as it cures, but here is your first peek! I will make this fabulous soap available on Saturday, August 22, along with the Pumpkin Pie.

Goodness! This soap is very pretty! Very smart to separate out the first layers so you could avoid the darkening. And a lot of work too, I can see that! It will be interesting to see what color it turns (if any) over time. I hope you’ll share that too. Love it!
Thank you, Donna Maria! Yes, I know it will turn darker. I shaved some off the bottom that was darker than what was inside. It shouldn’t affect the red part though. 🙂
Those turned out AWESOME Amy! I loooove them! 🙂
