On the Curing Rack: Moroccan Spice
Yes, I’m finally showing you some soap! I’ve been busy this week, and not always having time to blog. Dropped my girls off at our church for Elementary Camp this morning. It’s the first year they are both old enough to go, which made me a bit sad!
However, I managed to cut the Moroccan Spice Coffee Soap this afternoon that I made last night. It’s a favorite of several of my customers, with top notes of citrus-y orange, and lots of spicy notes of cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom to name a few. Of course, I can’t make the same soap the same way. Last time I made a swirl with some red clay, which was fine when it was a single batch.
This was a double batch, so I had to figure out something a little bit different. Since the fragrance is a spicy one, it moves fairly fast. Layers worked better this time. After pouring the top layer, I dug into the red clay layer underneath with my spatula to get some dabs of red to come to the top, then ran a skewer around it a bit. It’s not as pretty as it might have been if I had saved some of the red soap and swirled it in over the top, but it works!
Let’s give this soap about three weeks to cure…should be ready around July 27th!
I finally made the Banana Honey soap today that I’ve been talking about on Facebook. I could be a bit biased, but I think it’s going to be FABULOUS. I’ll try to show you that one tomorrow. Hope you are having a great week!

Oooh, I’m so eager to see the banana soap! This soap looks awesome as well. I think the subtle red in the top is really lovely!
Ooooh….Sounds incredibly sexy! Love the design too. Now, about that Banana Honey…
Why was I not a liker on FB already?? I am now! Moroccan Spice sounds lovely, and I agree that layers are a great way to handle fast-moving batches!
This soap is really pretty and the scent combo sounds divine. I’ve been on a soaping kick this week as well. I made a double batch of Lavender Monday, double batch of Chai Tues, Cinnamon on Wed and a bug soap yesterday.
Your blog has been so helpful to me lately with your beer soap info and your almond EO info. Thank you for posting such great information.
