It Must Be August…
All of a sudden things are a bit crazy around here! First, we celebrated my younger daughter’s 8th birthday on Thursday with a Minute to Win It Party. She had six friends come over and we set up a bunch of Minute to Win It games for them to play in the living room. Super fun! (I would show you photos, but our local network is down for maintenance so I can’t access them at the moment.)
Then I had to get ready for the farmer’s market on Saturday. It rained/sprinkled off and on all morning at the market. Fortunately I had just gotten my tent up when the first shower came through. It ended up being a decent selling day, despite the weather. The Soap of the Week is Banana Honey, and there are 7 left. I’ve been using one of the end pieces on my face this past week, and it feels really smooth and slippery. Not sure if it’s from the aloe vera juice that I used for the liquid, or from the banana, but the lather is super creamy and I love it! Even though I’m not a huge fan of using synthetic fragrance on my face…
Now I’m getting ready to help out with a short youth retreat at our church. It starts tonight, and ends Tuesday afternoon, so hopefully I will be back on Wednesday with photos of the Pumpkin Pie soap. After that, it will be a mad dash to get ready for school to start on the 17th. I think the girls are ready. I know I’m ready to get back to a regular routine!
Is everyone else feeling the rush right now too, or is it just me?

I’m feeling the rush too … although for different reasons! Getting married next month, so I’m stockpiling xmas soaps, and topping up all my regular bars, ready for when we come back (early October).
Lovely soap!
Happy belated birthday to your daughter 🙂 Minute to Win It sounds like it would be fun. I’m glad your day at the farmer’s market went well, even if it rained a bit. Oh yes, feeling the rush here as well. The kids may not go back to school until September but the entire month of August is prep time (getting supplies, going to orientations, etc…) It seems like they are already heading back.
Have a great time on your youth retreat!
@Erin – So exciting!! I’m sure the rush now will have a huge payoff later!
@Michelle – It’s been nice to have some rain after all the oppressive heat and dryness! Hope this month goes smoothly for you and you can enjoy the kids before they head back to school. 🙂
What a great birthday party theme! I bet they had so much fun, I can only imagine all of the giggling that must have occurred =)
Have fun at the retreat!
Hey that is one beautiful soap, Im not surprised that it is selling well, I love any soap made with honey, it may get super hot but the end result is always lovey I think. X
Hi Amy,
What a soap. I really want one of those Banana Honey Soaps. Hold one of those soaps for me and I very well might eat this soap.
Also, we wanted to know how did you execute the swirls under white icing of your Banana Honey soap.
Thank you Amy and enjoy the church retreat. Oh, and you aren’t the only one feeling the time crunch.
Amy,
Your reply made me laugh as I don’t have kids but I enjoy reading your posts about your time with your kids. You sound like a great mom.
The new banana soap looks great. You have been really busy and the retreat sounds fun. Hope it goes well for you.
I’ve felt busy the last few months as we added on two markets this year so it’s been hard keeping up with stock and selling every week-end.
Glad to hear you had a good selling day as well.
