On the Curing Rack: Orange Bliss
On the same day I made the Tranquil Pear soap with my daughter, I also made a new batch of soap called Orange Bliss. It’s a combination of a gradient soap using the faux funnel method. The fragrance is an all-natural blend of five-fold orange, bergamot, carrot seed, lavender, ylang ylang, and vanilla essential oils.
My daughter gets caught on camera (very briefly) in the video below without her knowledge. (She thinks she’s being sneaky!)
And here’s the photo in case you don’t have time to watch the video:
The color turned a bit more terracotta after the soap set up, and the fragrance is definitely on the sweet side from the ylang ylang and vanilla. Orange Bliss soap will be available for purchase at Greatcakessoapworks.com on March 15th.
My friend Cynthie is planning to come over this afternoon to help make a goat’s milk soap video. I think I’ll make Almond Milk. I haven’t made that one in quite awhile and I have an idea on how to make it look a little more interesting…

Sounds gorgeous, and looks great too!
That Orange Bliss is spectacular.Very pretty.
Okay,so now you might have finally persuaded me to try the faux funnel.I’ve been pondering how it would look with the kind of colors I use-and now I can picture it. Man,I think that’s my favorite one you’ve done. Such a nice gradient.
LOL! Yes, you can totally do it with more natural colors!! Go for it, Michele!
Hi Amy – I love those colors! I find your scent blends very interesting. The fragrance sounds wonderful. Traci
Pretty, I’ve yet to try the faux funnel swirl but have tried the funnel technique.
Every time you upload a photo of new soap I am shocked at how shocked I am at it’s beauty. You’d think by now I’d just know I was going to fall in love with every bar you make. Good grief!
Thanks for showing this technique you have inspired me.
Lovely colour blends and great music to that video.
@Traci – It’s a little bit sweeter in the soap than it was in the cup. I think the ylang ylang and vanilla are both contributing to that! Smells divine!
@Michelle – I’ve never attempted the real funnel technique, but I would think the “faux” method would be easier, just because you have more control. (At least that’s how it seems to me.)
@Candy – Glad I can still shock you!! I hope I never run out of tricks!!
@Ann – I hope you’ll try it! It’s great fun! Glad you liked the music – some have mentioned that it might be a little bit TOO catchy. 🙂
Can’t wait to see the goat milk video. I use cows milk, raw and whole for a really rich soap but love to see how others use milk. I always learn new tricks from you Amy!
Love it! I took the time to watch the video. It looks like magic the way the colors turned out and the scent sounds awesome. It is beautiful. Once again you did it well.
So now that I’m on a buying freeze you keep cranking out soap after soap of ones I want!! LOL!
@Donna – I’ll get there soon….still waiting to cut the soap until tomorrow. At least we have some nice sunny weather!
@Diana – I think everything about making soap is magical. The way you throw together oils and a lye solution with a fun fragrance and colors and out pops this really cool soap just amazes me every time! Guess that’s why I have to keep making more…
@Autumn – So sorry….don’t worry, I’ll keep making good ones so when your freeze is over you’ll have some great choices!
Great video Amy, I really liked the music too, finished watching and it’s still in my brain, now don’t know if that’s going to be good or bad in another hour or so lol and the colours look lovely.
