How I Make Goat’s Milk Soap

It’s been almost four years since I first posted my methods for making goat’s milk soap with fresh goat’s milk. The original post has some great photos, but for those who enjoy a little more action, my friend Cynthie helped me create a video.

The video starts out a little bit differently, as I discuss the reasons why goat’s milk soap is just so amazing!

I’ve sold quite a few of my customers on the goat’s milk soaps. It only takes a short time of using one to realize that your skin is no longer itchy and dry. Some of them won’t use any other kind. Even my farmer’s market manager is sold on them now!

Almond Milk Soap by Great Cakes Soapworks

The Almond Milk soap that I made in the video should be available March 27th. Sometimes the goat’s milk soaps can take a little bit longer to cure, so I may have to change my mind! Meanwhile, if you need a good goat’s milk soap, you can find all of my currently available ones here.

  1. Hi

Love your video. I visited my local goats farmer yesterday and bought 2 litres of milk. The farm is about 15 minutes drive from where I live … so I’m really lucky.

Planning on doing a 25% / 75% goats milk soap … where the water will be just a bit more than the lye and I’ll add the goats milk (room temperature) at light trace.

After watching your video, I’ll feel more comfortable making a 100% goats milk soap … just need to freeze some first.

  2. Hey Amy, I love the colour of your almond soap, its beeeutiful. I love that warm tan colour, and the simple stripe is perfect. We always use goats milk in all but our beer soap (for obvious reasons!) and love it so much. So I totally understand your take on goats milk X

  3. Amy, Such a great video -very nice job! (I am also glad to hear that you let your goats milk soap gel, too. I was beginning to feel like the odd man out in that regard!) I don’t have goats either….I get my fresh milk from a friend that I bribe with, you guessed it, Goats Milk Soap -LOL! ~Becky 🙂

  4. Great tutorial, Amy! I haven’t tried to make goat’s milk soap yet, but it’s on my soon-to-do list. I appreciate you sharing your technique – your soaps turned out beautifully!

  5. Sure the video is nice but that APRON !!! So cute. Seriously, fantastic job, you speak so well on your videos, explaining clearly. What a great teacher you are. I make organic cows milk soap since we live on our own dairy and I love the texture and creaminess of it.

But I still need some cute aprons.

  6. @Karen – You are definitely blessed to live so close to a farm! I’d love to hear how your 100% goat’s milk soap turns out.

    @Candy – Thanks so much!

@soapchick – That’s wonderful! Sometimes I wonder why I don’t make all of mine with goat’s milk too.

@Becky – You’re not alone!! That sounds like a great trade!

@Jenny – I’m sure you’ll do great with it – and wonder why you didn’t try it sooner.

  7. @Donna – Thank you for your kind words. Four years of debate in high school had to count for something! The apron was a gift from my sister-in-law. She has great taste for sure!!

  8. I like your new intro and I really like the way the soap turned out…really cool looking center! Your so talented!! =)

  9. @Cynthie – I just needed a little more time to think about what I wanted to say. Thanks again for helping!! That outtake video is going to show up one of these days…
