I’m Not Cool

I had a conversation with my baby girl (who will be six in August) two days ago. It was one of those sweet moments where she was snuggling up next to me as we were sitting on the stairs, and I was telling her that she would be a teenager before too long and wouldn’t want to have anything to do with me. She denied this, of course, precious thing that she is. So then I asked:

“Do you think Mommy is cool?”

She got this funny look on her face and sort of snickered. “No.” (Like, are you serious?)

“Why not?”

“Well, you’re fun. But you’re not cool.”

“Really? What would it take for Mommy to be cool?”

Snickering once again: “You would have to be a kid!”

There you have it. I’m no longer cool. And unless I’m Benjamin Button, I never will be again. *sigh*

  1. Does it count if you act like a kid? I have been known to do that a few times, lol!
