Making Soap with Impression Mats
For the December Challenge Club, we have been making soap with impression mats. It has definitely been a challenge! I’ve made three soaps using this technique. For the first one, I tested out Lori Curry’s dry mica technique using a pre-made impression mat, and came up with this soap:

For the second soap, I filled in the vine and leaf design on a pre-made mat with some green soap, then did a pink gradient:

Finally, I was able to successfully make my own impression mat with a vinyl lace place mat, and filled the lace impression with white soap, then made a layer of blue followed by a marbled dark coral. It turned out better than I could have imagined:

Here’s making video of this soap:

The impressions on these bars looks so cool. I really enjoy the way lace looks as an imprint; so elegant! =)
Thank you! I thought all the beautiful lace tops I’ve been seeing were done with a mat of some sort, but didn’t completely understand how to do it. I’m excited to try it!
Would like to try it, but where can I buy the impression mats
@michelle – I just updated the post with a link to the tutorial. There are lots of resources in the tutorial – or you can just look on Amazon!
I am motivated and intrigued by this idea.
@Sue – It’s so much fun and the possibilities are endless!!
