My New Toy – er, Tool!
As promised by the UPS Tracking, my new “light commercial power wand” from Willow Way (aka soapequipment.com) showed up on my doorstep today. After having issues with air bubbles in the last two batches of soap, I decided to make an investment in a real power tool! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it actually isn’t that much bigger than my regular stick blender.
Of course, I had to try it out right away. It has been nearly two weeks since I made those last two batches of soap! *twitch* *twitch* I was going through some serious withdrawals!! After asking the Great Cakes Soapworks fans on Facebook which soap I should make next, they unanimously agreed on Country Clothesline. Here’s a sneak peek:
This fragrance is incredibly easy to work with, and I think my new recipe (without rice bran oil) actually traces slower than the old one. Translation: I had plenty of time to work in some fun swirls! Can’t wait to cut it tomorrow!

I am totally jealous!
I love my two Kitchen Aids. Actually I can’t find one of the bodies but I have two blender sticks, but a Waring? Lucky you Amy….
Oh HOW FUN! How did your new one compare? Do you feel like it made a considerable difference?
The new soap looks so pretty. Those colors definitely make me think of a clothesline lined with white crisp sheets.
Mmmm,sun dried laundry. Looks fab!
@Joanna – I haven’t tried the KitchenAid brand. I’ve tried just about everything else – Sunbeam, Cuisinart, and this last one was an Oster. Seems like I have the same issue eventually – the lye eats up the seal around the blade and starts sucking air into the soap. I LOVE the Cuisinart – I’ve ordered two new sticks for it, but they just don’t last long in soap, so I’m saving them for lotion.
@Holly – I can tell there’s a lot of power in the new one. I like how open the blade guard is though – it doesn’t suck itself down to the bottom of the pot like my old one did. However, I would say that the Cuisinart had the same amount of power. It just didn’t hold up to the lye. I’m thinking this one will.
@Michele – It’s definitely a very fresh scent! I just happened to be doing the (real) laundry today too.
You won’t regret the upgrade. A reliable tool can really make a difference in your soaping.
P.S. Beautiful blue swirls…I can’t wait for you to cut it =)
I have found rbo definitely increases how quickly a batch traces. You should try making a 100% rbo soap!…lol. Gorgeous soap 🙂
LOVE the blue in this soap! So pretty!!
