Someone’s Got My Number

Just as I was getting ready to head out the door to take the youngest to kindergarten today, I got a call from my bank. Something along the lines of this:

Person from Bank: “Hello, may I speak to Amy Warden?”
Me: “This is she.”
Person from Bank: “I was calling to verify some recent activity on your business bank card. Have you charged anything online to Mobile Beaver?”
Me: “Ah, no.”
Person from Bank: “We thought this sounded suspicious. We received the charge ten minutes ago from Seoul.”
Me: “No, that definitely was not me.”
Person from Bank: “We would be happy to send you a new card, and it would be a good idea to destroy the one you have.”
Me: “No problem! Thank you for noticing!!!”
Person from Bank: “Have a nice day.”
Me: “Thanks, you too!”

So that was a little bit scary. I mean, you start wondering, how did they get my credit card number? And how wonderful that my bank took care of it so quickly!!! Makes you feel like there’s someone who’s got your back. Know what I mean?

  1. Even though my bank NORMALLY doesn’t give a hoot about anyone but their large corporate dollar, I too had an incident like this. Someone was trying to send through a western union for $1500!! I, like most of you, am a fiend when it comes to protecting my banking and credit card info but somehow, someway, thieves still got it!

Makes you feel violated since we take care to protect such information and yet very thankful that the bank noticed this was not normal and alerted you to the activity.

    Thank God for small miracles…
