Strawberries and Champagne Soap: A Video

As I was looking through my stash of fragrances the other day, I re-discovered a one-ounce sample of Strawberries & Champagne fragrance. It’s only enough for a six-bar batch, but after thinking about the Sweet Pea & Rhubarb soap I made last year for Valentines Day I came up with a plan.

Sweet Pea & Rhubarb Soap

Using a similar method, I decided to make strawberries instead of sweet peas on top:

With only six of these available, I might have to jack the price up or sell them to the highest bidder! It’s such a refreshing – and yes, sparkling fragrance! They’ll be ready at the end of February.

  1. @Michele – That means I did some good editing then! Had you watched all the parts I sped up in real time, you would have been bored to tears. Glad you enjoyed it!

  2. You never cease to amaze me, your soaps are beautiful!

When making soap does it matter if the oils are refined or unrefined? If I’m eating an oil then I would want a high quality oil, but to use an oil to make soap can it be a lower quality oil? I’m just wondering what the pros & cons are for using either kinds of soap.

  3. @Linda – When making soap, it really doesn’t matter that much if the oil is refined or unrefined. If it’s going to bring the same properties to the soap either way, then I don’t really worry about it. Sometimes it can affect the final color of the soap. For example, if you were trying to have a white base so that your colors come out true, you would pick the refined oils.
